Sirocco returns to 2011 one last time

Alston, NCD, Dec 31, 2011/Jan 1, 2012 – Despite being the first MicroWiki nation to enter 2012, Sirocco has leapt back into 2011 for one final time.

Premier Anderson stated a few minutes ago “Sirocco will officially switch to GMT-13 time until midnight, so we can have 2011 one more time.”

2011 was viewed as an extremely successful year in Sirocco, and the Premier himself said it was an excellent year personally. The idea had been raised earlier this morning but dismissed. James Wilary of Prsänëa raised the idea again at 3:33pm on Skype, and it was decided a few minutes ago that Sirocco would turn its clocks back one day to enjoy 2011 again.

The National Institute of Computing and the Government have both led the charge, with clocks in the computers there jumping back to December 31, 2011.

In response to being told he is “weird”, Anderson said that “2011 was such a fantastic year. I know going back to December 31 for an extra hour is a strange move, but I think Sirocco deserves one more hour to pay homage to an extraordinary year.”

Sirocco will return to its original GMT+13 timezone at midnight, when the year 2011 ends forever. January 1 will then be “skipped”, with Sirocco going straight from December 31, 2011 to January 2, 2012, much as Samoa and Tokelau did by jumping from December 29 to December 31, 2011.

While holding the honour of being the first MicroWiki micronation (first equal internationally when Arborea and Walkoria are included) to enter 2012, Sirocco will now also hold the honours of existing in both 2011 and 2012 twice, as well as being the last micronation to see out 2011 and see in 2012.
